Candle Use & Care
Crafted for slow living and intentional moments, your Backwoods By Candlelight wooden wick candle is designed to crackle softly and burn beautifully. Proper care ensures a clean, even burn and a fragrance experience worthy of your space.
Before the First Light

Trim the wooden wick to 1/8”–3/16”.

Ensure the vessel is placed on a stable, heat-resistant surface.

Keep away from drafts to preserve an even, steady flame.
The First Burn Matters
Allow the wax to melt fully to the edges of the vessel (approximately 2-3 hours).
This prevents tunneling and creates a consistent burn for the life of your candle.
Maintain the Flame

Before each relight, gently pinch off the charred portion of the wooden wick.

Always keep the wick trimmed short (about 1/8”).

If the flame becomes too tall or flickers excessively, extinguish, trim, and relight.
Wooden wicks are meant to be tended, a small routine that enhances the experience.
Burn With Intention

Limit burn sessions to no more than 4 hours at a time.

Never leave a candle unattended.

Keep away from children, pets, and flammable materials.

Do not move the candle while wax is melted.
Knowing When to Let Go
The wick clip is designed to discontinue burning when ½ inch of wax remains to protect the vessel.

How to Use

Uncap & Prepare
Carefully remove the stopper from the bottle and place it on a protected surface. -
Insert the Reeds
Place the natural rattan reeds into the fragrance oil. Allow them to absorb the oil for 24 hours before flipping for best results. -
Flip to Activate
After the reeds have absorbed the oil, gently flip them to begin diffusing fragrance into your space. -
Adjust Fragrance Strength

Use fewer reeds for a softer, subtle scent.

Use all reeds for a fuller, more noticeable fragrance experience.

Refresh as Needed
Flip reeds every 7–10 days (or as desired) to refresh and intensify the scent. -
Replace Reeds as Needed
Rattan reeds should generally be replaced every 4 to 6 weeks for optimal scent diffusion. However, if the scent begins to fade or the reeds appear dry or discolored; it’s a good idea to replace them sooner.
